On November 15, 1999 Mr. Saito played the piano at the Blue Hall of Stockholm City Hall, followed by a charity concert held on November 16 at Stockholm Concert Hall, in each of which respectively, the Nobel Prize Banquets and the Nobel Prize Award Ceremonies take place. The concert was also attended by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden. It enabled the audience to experience the immanent beauty of life, and to feel a kind of light radiating out of the depths within each one of us, thus allowing us to perceive a new dimension of the world that contributes to providing the necessary humanitarian basis for a future global social environment. All the proceeds from the concert were donated to BRIS and ECPAT SWEDEN, organizations committed to helping children in danger. On November 18, Mr. Saito performed on the piano and the pipe organ at the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsoe, a town renowned for its beautiful auroras.

Cosmic Life of the Universe : of Light and of Water
I was repeatedly stricken by terrible diseases in childfood, forcing me to the verge of death, and was beary able to return to life on each occasion, as if there were something wishing me to face and think over all the wonders of life and its genuine meaning.
I was desperately fighting again and again for survival, and in the midst of great pain, I came to realize that the object that my life was struggling against, spiritually and psychologically, was derived from the sadness of the burdens imposed and imprinted on my life as the chains, of a negative state of being,in relationship with others, and with socially constructed influences, created in the past,which were perpetuated in me as fundamental questions to be answered. One day, in quest of my investigation, I attended a lecture and happened to witness an aura radiated by the lecturer, expresseing such a beauty that no logically oriented research, nor any consciously programmed study could even imagine, which later provided me the motive for playing the piano, and wishing everyone to experience for themselves the beauty of the light that would pave a positive direction for the future of mankind.
It was not until recently that I realized that my state of being while playing the piano could be described as one of total comunion with the energy and waves of water. It is as if the water vital to all existence, is expressing itself in my music. The dialogue between that water, which represents the audience, and myself, automatically generates musical improvisation.The fact that such a process is occuring is a new phenomenon,that promises to bring forth something much greater, to contribute to the creation of new dimensions, and to open up an innovative future in a global context.
Light and water beautifully assimilated and interwoven with each other bring us tremendous messages of life in all its depth and authenticity.
