"Torch of Peace" Message by Idaki Shin

After the Cosmic Manifesto concert in Ethiopia, we made it our pressing task to look into our own identity as Japanese. Thus in the year 2003 we planned a concert at one of the oldest and most prestigious shrines in Japan, Ooyunohara Kumano Hongu, a UNESCO world cultural heritage site, on 3rd July 2003. Kumano was known as a holy site open to everybody regardless of one’s gender, religion, social class, etc. It was providing us an opportunity to express the equality of mankind under heaven.
Following this concert, we were provided the great honor to stage another big concert entitled Torch of Peace, at Dar es Salam, Tanzania as the official cultural program of the SADC summit conference. We understand that the Torch of Peace on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro is the symbol of peace all over the world, responding to which the artist has given a new definition of peace in relation with the first scream of a new born baby. This is the first speech expressed by man and one has properly to understand its meaning in order to understand the future of human society in peace and happiness. Both concerts express the dawn of a new era of humankind where each life can live a rigorous life, shining brilliantly. Even the light of one individual may influence its message of peace to all the rest of people in the world and I wish that our concert may contribute to the coming generations.
